Celebrity Sighting and Closure
I hadn't noticed who sat down a short distance away from me. I was nose-deep in my novel, "Red Mars", and when I came up for air I noticed a man sitting at a small table. He was hunched over a notebook, scribbling incessantly at it. He looked very familiar to me.
Is that who I think it is? He had curly short hair, and was widely known for his MTV appearances, as well as his work on a few comedy movies in the late 1980s and 90s.
I looked more closely..yes, indeed it was Pauly Shore, master thespian. He was sitting by himself, apparently his entourage left him long ago because this time he was traveling alone.
He boarded our plane after all of the commoners had gotten on-board, and sat promptly down in First Class next to some jaded Los Angelean, whose primary concern appeared to be looking chic in a pair of Chanel sunglasses.
The rest of our trip home was uneventful, beyond navigating the labyrinth that is LAX.
Cabo San Lucas was a fun diversion, and a nice rest for us. It is one of those places that fit in the 'nice place to visit, wouldn't want to live there' file for me. We considered this trip a tune-up for our extensive visit to Hong Kong and China next month. Only that time will be traveling with Mary's mom, dad and younger sister.
